A new international bridge over the Danube River is planned in the village of Orlivka, Izmail district, Odesa region — toward the Romanian city of Isaccea

This project is included in the 2025–2027 Regional Recovery and Development Strategy published by the Odesa Regional Council, reports cfts.org.ua.
The future bridge will become part of the trans-European route E87, connecting Ukraine with Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey. It will significantly shorten the route to Isaccea — by approximately 80 km — eliminating the need for drivers to detour through Moldova.
The Orlivka–Isaccea bridge will be an important element of the southern transport corridor and will strengthen Ukraine’s connection with the EU. The project’s funding — 12.6 billion UAH over three years — is expected to come from international aid. Work will begin with design and environmental studies, followed by the construction of the crossing, access roads, and border checkpoints:
The bridge will have four lanes.
Pedestrian sidewalks are planned on both sides.
The structure is designed to withstand seismic activity up to 9 points.
The length of the access road on the Ukrainian side is 3 km; on the Romanian side — 950 m.
The project symbolizes the strengthening of transport integration with Europe and the development of infrastructure in the southern region.
