Air Serbia Enters Moldova’s Aviation Market: Direct Chișinău–Belgrade Flights to Launch in June 2027

Serbia’s national airline, Air Serbia, has announced the launch of scheduled direct flights between Chișinău and Belgrade starting on June 3, 2027. The new route will operate four times a week. Tickets are already on sale, with advertised fares starting at €197.

The new air connection will expand Moldova’s transport opportunities and provide passengers with access to Air Serbia’s international network through Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.

Air Serbia currently operates transatlantic flights to New York and Chicago and plans to introduce Miami to its network in 2027. Consequently, Belgrade could become an additional transit hub for Moldovan passengers travelling to North America and other European destinations.

According to IDR experts, Air Serbia’s entry into the Moldovan aviation market is significant not only for passenger transport development but also for strengthening transport integration across Southeastern Europe.

“The launch of direct flights between Chișinău and Belgrade will contribute to the diversification of Moldova’s international transport connections and strengthen its links with the Balkan countries. Belgrade continues to consolidate its position as a regional aviation hub, while Chișinău gains additional opportunities to develop business, tourism and investment relations.

For the Danube macro-region, improved air connectivity is an important component of an integrated transport system in which aviation complements road, rail and inland waterway transport,” the Institute of Danube Research notes.

IDR experts emphasize that the further expansion of Chișinău’s international flight network could enhance mobility, stimulate cross-border cooperation and strengthen economic relations between Moldova, Serbia and other countries of the Danube region.

At the same time, the actual impact of the new route on competition and passenger traffic will depend on the airline’s pricing policy, the convenience of connecting flights and operational reliability.
