Can Ukraine Rise to the Danube Challenge?

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Danube has ceased to be merely the “remote south of Odesa region.” It has become a route of survival, a vital export corridor, a gateway to Europe, and a major test for the Ukrainian state.

At the Ukrainian Danube Conference in Odesa, representatives of government, business, the expert community, the infrastructure sector, and international partners discussed the future of Ukraine’s Danube region.

However, the central question remains open:
is Ukraine truly ready to turn the Danube into a strategic national project?
Or does a strong idea once again risk being lost in bureaucracy, presentations, and declarations?
