On 18 December, the kick-off conference of the international project CBC_AEGIS – “Construction, modern medical equipment and facilities to strengthen cross-border infrastructure and community development” (ROUA00049) was held in Tulcea. The project is implemented under the Interreg Next Romania–Ukraine Programme.
A working group from the Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council participated in the event. Izmail’s involvement demonstrates a consistent commitment to international and cross-border partnerships, enabling communities to develop even under wartime conditions.
The conference brought together representatives of public authorities, civil society organisations and healthcare institutions, highlighting the relevance of the project and strong stakeholder interest.
Tangible results are already visible: the Izmail City Central Hospital has received a ureterorenoscope, and a modern C-arm X-ray system will be delivered soon, significantly enhancing the hospital’s diagnostic and surgical capacities.
IDR Comment.
CBC_AEGIS illustrates how international solidarity and professional project management translate into real improvements for local communities. For Izmail, it means stronger healthcare resilience and deeper integration into EU-supported cooperation in the Danube region.
