At the 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference, the Republic of Moldova is officially running for a seat on the Executive Board for the 2025–2029 term.
The delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi, is attending the meetings in Samarkand, Uzbekistan (3–4 November).
The Executive Board is one of UNESCO’s key governing bodies, responsible for shaping the organization’s strategic direction in education, science, and culture.
IDR Comment:
Moldova’s candidacy highlights the growing influence of the Danube–Black Sea region in global cultural diplomacy and sustainable development. It also signals stronger regional representation and cooperation within the UN system — a perspective shared by Ukraine and its neighbours.
