New stage of capital repair works begins on the “Danube Bridge” near Ruse

A new stage of capital repair works has started on the “Danube Bridge” crossing near the Bulgarian city of Ruse. Construction is currently underway on a 320-meter section in the traffic lane towards Romania. Meanwhile, works on the Bulgarian-bound lane are nearing completion, after which traffic will be redirected along the renovated section, reports Nova TV.

The renovated stretch already features new railings and safety barriers. The next phase will include the dismantling of pedestrian fences and lighting poles, removal of the existing asphalt pavement, waterproofing, and sidewalks.

“The capital repair of the Danube Bridge between Ruse (Bulgaria) and Giurgiu (Romania) is of strategic importance not only for the two countries, but for the entire Danube region. This bridge is a vital link in the Europe–Asia transport corridor and a key element for strengthening cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania. Its modernization will improve traffic safety, increase capacity, and enhance logistics along the North–South axis. For Ukraine, the renovation of such infrastructure carries additional importance, as the condition of transport routes on the Danube directly influences cargo flows in the region and prospects for post-war recovery,” the IDR emphasized.
