Ukraine and Moldova Resume Railway Connection: New Route Strengthens the Role of the Danube Region

The first freight train carrying 4,500 tons of grain from Moldova has arrived at the port of Chornomorsk, marking the resumption of railway services between Ukraine and Moldova after their suspension in 2022.
The new route significantly expands logistics opportunities for Black Sea and Lower Danube ports, supports multimodal transport, and enhances cross-border cooperation. The Danube Research Institute emphasizes that this step is of strategic importance for stabilizing agricultural exports and strengthening the Ukraine–Moldova partnership within the framework of European transport integration.
