Ukraine to Acquire a New Ecological Vessel for the Danube

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) has announced the procurement of a new multifunctional vessel to serve the Danube ports of Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaisk. The ship will collect oil products and waste from the water surface, operate as a tugboat, and assist in firefighting operations.
The purchase is part of the RELINC project (“Restoration of Essential Logistics Infrastructure and Network Connectivity”), implemented with the financial support of the World Bank. The new vessel will significantly enhance environmental safety and technical readiness in Ukraine’s Danube ports. The expected delivery date is by the end of 2026.
This initiative demonstrates Ukraine’s systemic approach to strengthening ecological and infrastructural resilience across the Danube macro-region.
