Wizz Air Connects Bulgaria’s Burgas with Poland’s Radom

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has announced the launch of a direct air service between the Bulgarian coastal city of Burgas and Radom in Poland.

The route will operate twice a week during the summer season, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The new connection is expected to strengthen tourist flows between Poland and Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, while improving Burgas’ accessibility for travellers from Central Europe.

The expansion of Wizz Air’s network in Bulgaria forms part of the airline’s broader strategy to develop direct regional routes. Earlier this month, the carrier announced that it would launch direct flights between the Bulgarian coastal city of Varna and Basel, Switzerland, on 27 October.

In July, Wizz Air also announced the opening of direct routes from the Bulgarian capital Sofia to Tirana, the capital of Albania, and Palermo in Italy.

Wizz Air entered the Bulgarian market in 2005. Its fleet consists of 270 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.

The opening of the Burgas–Radom route reflects the growing importance of direct air connections in supporting tourism and economic cooperation between Central and South-Eastern European countries.

For Burgas, the new service means a broader geography of inbound tourism and an opportunity to attract additional passenger flows from Polish regions. At the same time, the development of air routes to Burgas, Varna and Sofia strengthens Bulgaria’s position as an important transport and tourism hub in the Black Sea–Danube region.

The expansion of regional aviation also contributes to the formation of a more integrated transport area, in which air services complement road, rail, maritime and inland waterway connections.
