Young Rewilders Explore the Danube Delta: Ukrainian and Romanian Students Join Nature Restoration Camp

In July, a five-day educational camp called Junior Rewilders Camp was held on the Romanian side of the Danube Delta, organized by Rewilding Ukraine and Rewilding Romania. The camp brought together 30 students aged 12–15 from cross-border communities in Ukraine and Romania, including participants from Vylkove and Borodino community.

The program featured interactive workshops, nature excursions, birdwatching, clay brick making, and a cultural exchange evening. Students learned about the concept of rewilding—restoring wildlife and natural landscapes—and worked in teams to develop their own local nature protection initiatives.

The camp aimed to reconnect young people with nature and inspire them to become ambassadors for wildlife restoration. It is part of a broader effort led by Rewilding Europe to restore at least 40,000 hectares of nature across the Danube Delta in Romania, Ukraine, and Moldova, with the support of the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes programme.
