38 Shelters to Be Built for Ports in Odesa and Mykolaiv Regions

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) has announced new measures to strengthen safety in the country’s ports. By the end of 2025, 38 additional mobile shelters will be installed in the ports of Greater Odesa, the Danube region, and Mykolaiv.
According to the USPA, the decision aims to protect workers and critical infrastructure from potential air attacks. The shelters will allow port employees to react quickly to air raid alerts, ensuring immediate access to safe spaces directly at their workplaces. This step is considered essential for the stable operation of Ukraine’s port sector under heightened security risks.
“Employee safety is the key condition for the uninterrupted functioning of the port industry. Given the large territories, the specifics of port operations, and the short flight time of missiles, additional protective facilities are vital,” the authority emphasized.
In addition, the Odesa port recently received 10 new modular shelters, provided with the support of the charitable Ukrainian Foundation. These shelters are located next to operational sites, ensuring workers can find protection instantly in case of danger.
