Institute Danube Research Welcomes Progress on the Danube Corridor Project in Serbia

The Institute Danube Research (IDR) welcomes the dynamic progress in the construction of the Danube Corridor in eastern Serbia — a strategic infrastructure project of great importance for the transport and economic integration of the Danube region.
During a recent inspection visit, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, praised the pace and quality of the construction of the expressway, which is being implemented by the Shandong Provincial International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group (CSI) in cooperation with Serbian subcontractors.
The 68-kilometre corridor, connecting the Braničevo District with Belgrade and the international E75 highway, serves as a practical example of the implementation of sustainable regional development and cross-border cooperation principles, as outlined in the EU Danube Strategy.
“This is one of the most important projects for the development of our country. It will unlock the potential of this region, improve logistics, and contribute to the growth of tourism, particularly around Silver Lake,” President Vučić stated
The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia, Li Ming, emphasized that each kilometre of the new highway brings bilateral relations closer to the level of a strategic partnership.
The IDR notes that the implementation of such infrastructure projects is also highly relevant for Ukraine — considering the prospects for strengthening multimodal transport links in the Danube region, improving transit to Black Sea ports, and advancing integration into the broader European transport network.
